A Guy Gets a Girl – How?
Dating, I might say, is the first step in the “conquest” — of sorts — for men. If you want to pursue her, at least know how you should appear and how you should behave in front of her. More importantly, learn the skills in effectively getting to know her better.
A guy gets a girl by being natural. Look and feel your best. You may not want look like a slick, well-oiled metrosexual, but you may have to shave up, get a haircut, or choose your clothes well if you want to impress her. Don’t go off to your date smelling like a walking onion. Groom up, shave or trim your facial hairs neatly, pick a decent thing to wear, put on cologne (but just enough okay?), and you’re ready to go. No matter how rowdy and rough your image is supposed to be, at least trim down or set your appearance straight.
Aside from being smooth and well-groomed, try to be natural. One of the best dating advice for men is just to be yourself. Do not put on a cool dude persona if you consider yourself a regular Joe. Inauthentic personalities turn off a lot of women.
A guy gets a girl by being knowledgeable. Converse more. We know well that men don’t talk as much as women, but if you want to give good first impressions you need to brush up on local events, the latest news, American Idol finalists, or anything that might fuel the conversation. Don’t go into your date brain dead and her doing all the conversation. She might think you aren’t fun at all. Try to give her feedback on her opinions, insert relevant and amusing stories along the way, and steer the conversation to what excites her. Be creative and sensitive to the verbal cues.
A helpful tip: when in a restaurant, choose a spot near the window. Since there’s always something buzzing outside the restaurant, it always helps to pick on these subjects to converse about, like the city landscape, or an oddly-dressed activist. When you two “run out” of subjects to talk about, take a glance outside.
A guy gets a girlby behaving! Practice good manners. Again, chivalry is not dead, and if you think it is, good luck being successful on a first date. Women always want to be treated with respect. They will appreciate it if you show good manners such as giving them a seat first, opening the doors for them, or walking at the danger side of the street.
Be kind and courteous to other people too. Don’t expect her to like you if you treat the waitress like trash, or if you badmouth that taxi driver who charged a wee bit too much. Drop those swear words. Coarse language sounds like an airplane roar to the girl no matter how gently they were said. Also, learn to keep your mouth shut and listen to her too. It is always a good piece of dating advice for men to know when to talk and when to listen. Women love it.
Be smug at that Bud. Whoa! Before you start grabbing a mug and a beer, make sure you’re in another pub first. If you’re a certified beer guzzler, try to keep from drinking during your dates. It just sends all the wrong kinds of signals, particularly when you’re already tippy and almost stopping short of totally embarrassing your date. When you’re ready to have a relationship, you have got to start controlling your drinking habits.
